  • 1 ½ cup milk

Taco Meat

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ t salt
  • ¼ t pepper
  • ¼ t oregano
  • ¼ t paprika
  • ¼ t onion powder
  • ¼ t garlic powder
  • ¼ t chili powder
  • 1 T parsley flakes

Other

  • canola oil
  • whatever taco toppings you want

Instructions

Chalupa Shells

  • Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and butter. You can do this by hand or in a stand mixer attached with a dough hook.
  • Add the milk and combine. Knead it until it begins to form into a dough. This should only take a couple of minutes.
  • Let it rest for 45 minutes to an hour.
  • While it's resting, make the taco meat.
  • Divide the dough into 12 even sections.
  • Roll each section out into a small circle.
  • Heat the canola oil in a shallow layer over medium heat.
  • Add the dough circle and fry for 30 seconds. Flip it over. Fold it into a taco shape and let that fry for 30 more seconds. Flip it and fry the other side for 30 additional seconds.
  • Take it out of the oil and let it drain on a plate lined with a paper towel or a draining rack.
  • Repeat with all of them.

Taco Meat

  • Brown your taco meat. This should take about 8-10 minutes.
  • Add the tomato puree, salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and chili powder. Combine and let it simmer for 10 minutes.

Assembly

  • Add the taco meat, cheese, and any other toppings you want to the chalupa shell.
  • Serve with salsa, sour cream, or nothing! Whatever will make you enjoy it the most.
